A relaxing Sunday afternoon watching AFL at the Brighton Hotel (286 Bay Street, Brighton 3186). It’s a nice, old-feeling hotel with standard service and layout – splitting the restaurant from the bar and gaming room quite well. As you can see, I had the traditional Chicken Parmigiana ($18.90). It comes as a mid-sized chicken breast, topped with a rich, tomato sauce and a very hard, think smear of melted cheese (like you would find on Pizza Haven pizzas). It doesn’t come with as many chips as is standard and the salad is pretty poor but smartly served as to not get in the way of the parma. It’s a good parma without being anything special. Despite this, the service was friendly and efficient and sitting in the bar with the big screen was really nice. 13/20.
